Berdan Primed Reloading

I see some tools out there that are designed to decap and prime Berdan cases. Anyone tried them? I sure hate walking away from a nice GP11 case...

I have used the RCBS decapper, which basically rips the primer out and it worked fine. Never actually loaded anything with berdan primers though just due to the difficulty in getting them. I sold the tool years ago on Ebay.

I read that Norma uses (used?) water pressure to decap berdan cases.. I'd also read about someone doing the same thing with a Rock Chucker. Somehow you fill the case with water, and then when you work the press, the case goes into a sizer that has something seal the case and the water pressure (since water cannot be compressed) pushes the primer out. It's a bit messy, and likely will rust your press if you don't dry it off, but it sounds feasable..

...or if the brass is $1+ a pop... IF it's available...

Iraqvet's U-tube video is very informative. You can buy the berdan primers made by Tula from Powder Valley or Graf & Sons.

A buddy gave me a Berdan decapping tool but in trying to use it, it seems it was designed for rimmed cases rather than the 7.5 Swiss rimless case. Not sure if I can modify it and am considering making the one shown in the Swissrifle posting. Never give up!

I have used a homemade water decapper, and it sort of works. Some military cases are so well crimped that it is a huge struggle.

Bought some Berdan primers here:http://www.dagammo.com/shop/ and made a hydraulic de-capper following this guys method http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_42/36...me_Built_.html. I tried the RCBS tool and it would regularly destroy the anvil rendering the brass useless. After removing spent primer I use a modified Lee de-burr tool to remove the crimp and away we go! Once set up the process is acceptable and not too terribly time consuming. Note that you will get three reloads before the anvil is diminished and no longer viable. I also anneal after the second firing.
