    Moly Coated Bullet Help

    Awhile back I got a great deal on some .50cal bullets for my Desert Eagle. Well I finally decided to load some up and discovered 5 of the boxes have been moly coated. They are not factory coated, previous owner must have done this.

    I really dont know anything about moly coating. Are these safe to use? Will they hurt my pistol? Do they require a different cleaning process for the pistol?

    Can I tumble off the coating, will that affect the bullet.

    Any info or direction will be appreciated.

    These are Speer 325gr Hollow Points.
    Never return fire!

      Usually moly coated are just fine. Start with load data for lead projectiles. Check the OD, if they were homemade coated by someone then the diameter may exceed .501 If they exceed by a couple thousands, don't bother loading them.

      Tumbling usually does not work, and then your bullets will be undersized if you found a way to remove it. All tumbling does is make them dull looking and sticky feeling.
