Reloading components in Sacramento area?

Is there anywhere other than Sportsmans for reloading supplies? I live in Rancho Cordova, and the trek out to Sportsmans is just too inconvienent. Cordova shooting center sells Remington shotshell primers, and shot only, which I do use for my shotshells. Wild Sports sells a VERY small variety of powder. But does anyone else have any other leads? Hazmat and shipping fees make online purchases less valuable, and I'm going to start keeping an eye out for group buys. Just wondering if there are any stores I'm not aware of. I'd even rather travel to Folsom, or El Dorado Hills, than trek all the way up Sunrise from 50 to 80, usually during commute traffic.

Wild Sports in Orangevale has a selection of projectiles, primers and powder. It's not extensive, and the prices are pretty much MSRP, but they have it. They also have some RCBS equipment and dies.

It's my local supplier of last resort, with DSS being first and Sportsmans Warehouse being second.

Was at DSS Saturday and they were out of stock on both powders I wanted (8# TAC and 1# 2200).

Sportsmans is usually open until 8, so I drive up after the commute rush.

Thanks for the info guys, I will have to check out DSS. I just found out today that WS sells some other components, although they never want to help much over the phone. I don't really understand their business model. If they can't tell me if they have what I need or not, and what the price is, I'm not going to waste the gas to go and "look" what they have. I was surprised what I went to SW yesterday, they didn't have my titegroup powder or hardly any primers in stock. I wonder if suppliers are going to start holding back some products, to sell at a higher price after elections or something?

You can't even "look" at what they have at Wild Sports. You have to ask at the back counter, then they go check to see if they have it in the stockroom.

I doubt suppliers are "holding back". More likely that distributors and retailers are buying all they can get their hands on. Powder Valley routinely posts on the FB page that the got 60% of the Winchester Primers they order or 75% of some brand of powder they ordered. It's usually enough to cover backorders and provide stock for a few days, but it's not uncommon for them to be out of stock of some items lately.

I just did an order for some powder and primers from Grafs the other day, (didn't do a GB because the last one was a PINA) I got 5k SP 5k of LP and 4# of bullseye and 2# of Varget. $401 to my door.

I was down to 500 LP and was getting scared, two weeks ago they had all the primer manufactures in sock, when I looked on Thur they were down to Fed and CCI so I did my order, I will not be paying $40+ per 1k of primers this go around.

If you know what components you are looking for, call DSS on the phone to see if they have it in stock, before you go. They have great customer service.

The key to SW is getting there before the weekend when they stock their shelves. If you come on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday, everything will be cleared out. Friday morning would be your best bet.

I was just in there yesterday. They don't have a lot, but the do have some primers (Winchester) and powder. Not a big selection of bullets, though. Only cast lead handgun bullets. No rifle bullets at all.

I haven't been in there in years. There was one guy that was pleasant to deal with but all the others made it seem I was an inconvenience to them. Maybe they have changed now, but quite honestly, they burned their bridges with me.

Oh yeah, I haven't been to RC Guns in years. Last time I was there, I wasn't into reloading so never bothered to look at their selection. For some reason, I didn't think they carried components. If they do, they are the closest to me for sure. I'll have to run by and check out what they have. Thanks for the reminder about them!

Yeah - A significant amount of their business is the local Cowboy Action Shooting community... But 99% of the time, they have the gun and/or reloading supplies I need... Been a fairly steady customer there for 14+ years...

I load primarily for pistols so I buy my powder and primers in bulk either at a gun show or via group buys here on CalGuns. Bullets I get from Berry's 1k at a time. I'm in Rancho too.

Discount Shooters Supply sounds like a place to check out.
