    Powder in the mail

I have a buddy who wants to send me 3lbs of powder and some primers. Does he need to get these "hazmat" checked or anything or can he just ship them?

Its probably cheaper for him to give you the cost of the items than for him to pay a hazmat shipper to send them to you.

It's illegal to ship powder and/or primers through the mail (USPS). UPS and FedEx are your only two viable options. Both of them require that you have a special "hazmat" account in addition to your daily shipping account. It takes a lot of training and certification to get set up as a UPS or FedEx hazmat shipper. I don't know of any hazmat shippers that will accept hazmat packages from third parties and ship them on their UPS or FedEx hazmat account. If there are any then the amount of money they will charge you will be more than the powder and primers are worth, as Joelogic already suggested.

Just like he stated above. He would not be able to ship it to you without a Hazmat Certificate on his account. Just have him send you a $100 check instead.
