How dent is too dent? (ammo)

I'm sorry I'm sure this question has been asked many times. However I just want to make sure I can (or cannot) shoot this cartridge as the dent is deeper that I would feel comfortable with.

I recently bought 1k M855 (mind you not XM855) from a CGNer and just now when I was loading up my magazines I found this:

This is the most dented cartridge I've ever seen so I would like to know if this is safe to shoot or not. I find it surprising that the QC guy did not pick this up. Thanks!

With ones like that I place them aside, and shoot them first. I haven't seen any major problems with shooting brass like that.

Glad to hear that it won't explode. If the case looked okay afterwards, would you feel comfortable reloading them? Thank you.

Unless it's cracked, if it will chamber it will fire.

          heh, shoot them first.

I usually segregate them and shoot them last. in case it ends my range day

I've shot that particular dent before as long it chambers. 90% of the dent would be gone. I've only experienced 3 rounds with similar dents. An ex-neighbor of mine handed me 300 rounds of M855 he did not want anymore. The brass is still reloadable.

Yep if it chambers fire it the case will fire form the dent out.

                Exactly...

Only caviat being don't force them to chamber.

Yeah this is news to me. I just put them in a separate box usually though.
