Does anyone every do reloading parties much like build parties? I've only reloaded shotgun shells and I'm ashamed to admit it but it has been over 20 years. I am going to get my first rifle/handgun reloading set up pretty soon and was just wondering if anyone ever holds these type of events.

It's not really the kind of thing you should do casually.
Attention to detail plays a big part of being able to play a musical instrument after shooting your own reloads. Except for the Kazoo. It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.Comment

That is what I was hoping to avoid. If someone who is experienced in reloading was holding a small get together to go over the basics and don'ts that may help out some of us noobs.Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!Comment

This place has a free reloading class every second or third Saturday of the month. I think next one is on the 17th. Not close to you, but better than nothing.Comment

Bass pro shop in Rancho Cucamonga has classes periodically as well that are free. You could check with them. Or maybe there is someone in your area that can tutor you.Comment

The first reloading I ever did was with my anal retentive (engineer) coworker. It was good because he was really process oriented and methodical. After learning the basic steps/terminology, you can read/ask questions about tweaking loads for certain guns. I learn best by doing something, so I found someone to teach me.
It wasn't free though. While learning, Widdle and I sized, trimmed, chamfered, etc. THOUSANDS of pieces of 308 for his M1A. Like I said...learn by doing. He had a good setup and supervised the operations, so it wasn't too bad, but still. He is 30+ years older than me, so he has had a lot of time to learn everything. Can ask questions about anything and he knows it off the top of his head.
Haven't blown myself up yet...

I've got a SS that I could set you up on while I do some work on the dillon. I could walk you through what I know (which isn't a whole hell of a lot) and you could make some ammo. You'd have to bring parts, but I'm placing a big reloading parts order next week if you want to share HAZ. I'm not very close to you unfortunately (I'm in NoHo).
I've got dies for 9mm, 45acp, 357, 223, and 308.weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?Comment

Too bad you're in SoCal. I need some yardwork done. I would trade you yardwork for Ammo Reloading Education.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
