Cast bullet mold, H&G #68/ Elmer Keith type

If this has been asked before, where can I find those post?

Where can I find a cast bullet mould for 45 acp Elmer Keith type lead SWC in 230 gr to 255 gr? Who makes a mould that closely conforms to a Keith type bullet?

Can a LSWC (230-255 gr) be hollow-pointed after poured, how?

    Many Thanks

Forster makes a gadget that allows you to drill your own hollow points. I've seen sizes of 1/16 and 1/8 and there may be more.

Did EK make a mold for ACP? I have the .41, .44 and .45 Colt but I am unaware of a KT Type .45acp (got it, read below)

Elmer was an advocate of heavy, flat nosed, wide squared bottomed grease groves.flat base not beveled
Any mold that fills these requirements would have met with his approval. Some companies have altered their designs to conform with his requirements.

Probably the closest Lyman mould that fits your specs. is 452423 at 238gr with #2 alloy. You may find that all 45autos do not readily digest keith style bullets. They often require feed ramp modifications.
This bullet works well in 45acp45ar revolvers.

Thanks gunboat, "They often require feed ramp modifications"

Do not want to do that, no modifing.

When you decide which boolit mould you think you want, I suggest you go to the castboolit website and in the boolit exchange or wanted ask for a few samples. Likely someone will offer to send a few free, or for postage, so you can try before buy.

H&G #68 is a 200gr bullet that functions well in most 45 autos. Ballisticast still makes the HG bullet types. It would be #668.

The original 250gr Keith bullet he used in the 44special is the Lyman 429421

                      Thanks Guys!!!

I have been looking around and have found some great articles. It seems like some 8 yrs ago bowling pin shooting was "thee" thing. Some of the shooters used heavy 255 gr bullets to scare the pins off the table. I'm not a "hunter" (maybe pigs, someday) but the Elmer Keith type LSWC 255 gr 45 (acp/Colt) maybe fun to experiment with.

A few yrs ago I bought a Ruger 44 mag; I like the 44 mag/ 41 mag for hunting. Just did not like the Ruger. I have a Colt Python 357 mag that can do well on 100 yd targets (I probably can not shoot that well any more), would be a good hunting gun.

I would like to learn the 45 acp 1911; learn one gun well. Play with the 185 gr 45 acp rds, focus on 200 gr LSWC to 230 gr (LSWC), and shoot pins with the 255 gr.

The 45 acp 1911 has a history, as does Elmer Keith; the 1911 may not be the 45 Colt but...if EK where around today would he be experimenting with it?

Take a look at the RCBS 45 CM (Cowboy) mould design. 230 grains--round flatnose--and it feeds in my Colt GCNM very well.

Mr. ThomasHoward, I'm enjoying the "Boolits" site! The search is a challenge though!

Found this; "Real" Keith Bullets. Learning some history and a lot about projectiles.
