    7mm Mag loading

What is a consensus of opinion on 7mm mag loads. I have narrowed the powder to either of the 4350's and Nosler 150 gr CT. To be used on big deer maybe Black Bear. 3-400 yards and beyond, but needs to not blow up at 100 yds Do I really need Magnum rifle primers? would 4831(either) be a better powder? To be used in a Ruger #1 26"

I use H4831sc in my 7 mag with 140 grain bullets and I believe that the slower powders give better results. It's probably only worth about 50 fps but if you are going to reach out that far take every advantage that you can.

Since you are loading for the No.1 ignore the OAL requirements and load to fit your chamber. The same thing with setting your sizing die, size your cases to headspace off of the case's shoulder instead of the belt. It will give you a better fit in your chamber and better accuracy.

I would use a magnum primer with all heavy charges of extruded and ball powders.

I have nothing to add concerning your selected powders as my dad and I use RL 22 and 160 grain bullets for 7mm Magnum, but I applaud the choice of rifle!

Thanks for the reply. I have some H4831 (not sc) and a collmator w/ a modified case. The first rounds will fire form the cases then trim and neck size, checking to see if they chamber OK. I will shoot a ladder for high node then fire for seating depth. I also do primer pockets and flash holes

My first 7mm Mag. a gift from my Brother, bless his heart
