Anyone use NECO Quick Load software?

After using countless components and several manuals, I called these guys off a whim this afternoon. I had just finished loading and shooting my rifle with some hand loads I'ld made last evening after getting some basic guidelines from Berger and loading near max. My COAL and barrel length is different than the load specs Berger sent. So I called NECO after I shot a few rounds. The guy fired up the program as we were on the phone. I gave him the inputs of caliber, twist, bullet type and weight, powder type and weight, barrel length etc. He told me the MV of the bullet without me telling him what I got.....HE WAS DEAD ON.....Not only that he gave me the pressure of the load...was well below SAAMI max for a 30.06. Berger uses their software as well, but refrains from going above SAAMI OAL even though their bullets require that to perform well

Long story short I ordered the software

About as much as 6 reloading manuals ~$155 before shipping handling etc. Don't know if sales tax applies because they are in Benicia but an internet Co.

Yes there is a demo look on the left side of this page right next to the link to buy the software. 9.3MB and it includes the entire instructions which has a great explanation of how powder actually burns in the cartridge.

Quick Load also includes Quick Target which is a fantastic exterior ballistics calculator that can import the results of your Quick Load charge.

With QuickLoad, you can get a tabular view of what your MV's and Max Pressures are for incremental charges of powder (such as increasing by 0.xg or x%), what all the various powders will do in terms of pressure for a desired velocity or which powder will give you what velocity for a given pressure. There are tons of "what if's" you can do with this software.

That being said, it is just an estimator and is only reliable for giving you an estimate of what a combination of bullet/powder/charge/seating depth will give you. Although it is often dead on in its estimations, there are no guarantees and it should only be used to give you an idea of where to start with your load development (just like load manuals).

It's definitely worth the price of several load manuals if you know how to get the most out of it and what its limitations are.

I use it and absolutely love it! It's super-useful to me and I only load pistol ammo. I don't think in should totally supplant printed load data, but for someone who's versed in loading and wants to experiment, it's a great tool.
