Gun show reloads

I'm not reloading any more..eyesight is such that I got a little goosy about over or under charging rounds so I quit...I shoot much less than in the past also eyesight and arthritis, etc...but I do have a 44 special and a 45 long colt (both in Ruger Blackhawks) that I enjoy shooting now and then....but the price...even for cowboy loads is in the ozone...so wondering about things like Miwall or possibly other gun show loads that anyone has experience with....no, I don't compete...no I don't do cowboy action shooting...jsut like to go with friends now and then and punch some holes in paper and make things go bang....any thoughts would be much appreciated from folks that actrually have bought and shot some of this stuff....

The Miwall's are good and the LAX ones are good. I have shot the Miwall ones and I have friends who have shot LAX.
If you go to the Del Mar show, stay away from the guy out front with the bullets in bags under a glass case. A buddy of mine bought 357's from him and they were crap. Lots of split cases and 1 squib.

Another option is buying from Mastercast Bullet Co., a professional reloading shop in Enon Valley, PA (smaller version of Georgia Arms). They do ship to California, and they do so at reasonable prices--$13 to $15 per 60lb box--something like that.

Yeah, definitely watch out for the bagged reloads. Went out yesterday with a friend who had some bagged 10mm reloads (don't remember which booth he got them at) and had a few split case mouths. One almost halfway down the length of the case!

I'll never ever ever shoot anything from Miwall again.

Sure, their ammo is great and runs just fine, until your rifle blows up in your face (though you're not really allowed to say it out load, the Miwall fanbois get their panties in a bunch if you do)

relaods can be problamtic i would look at walmarts plain vanilla ammo it is major mfg and is low price.

Thanks for all the comments....I guess for the rrelatively little amount I shoot I'd be just as well off with "name brands" from one of the on line discounters....as to Walmart I've never seen 45 long colt or 44 special on their shelves and someone mentioned that Walmart in San Diego is either not handling ammo any more or plans to stop...I'll check that out. Cabela's, Midway and Able all have both for sale but $35 for 50 rounds is steep...may have to go back to 9mm or shoot my 22's more.

I just started shooting .44mag. So I just got my setup to load .44mag...lol but I needed brass, The most economical way I found to get such brass was to buy LAX reloads. (bought 250 rounds not enough)


Anyway opos I will offer up my gear for you to use. I am a bit of a drive up in north oc though. I understand your problem is with checking your charges but you have no issue with pulling the handle? If so my xl650 is yours to use if you would like. It has a powder check. I will help you dial in your recipe. I can not offer this for .45lc but I can in a few other calibers.

O and I had 0 issues with the LAX ammo. I know 250 rounds is not nearly enough to declare it safe for all to use. I am merely telling my experience. And I have not yet gone through all 250 rounds yet either.
