Please school me on LC .223 Brass prep

Have about 100+ Lake City cases from shooting AE 5.56 rounds, and I am trying to decide if its worth prepping/swaging them for reloading or going with something else? I will be reloading them for a long range AR15 using RL-15 and 69-77gr bullets.

Prep is easy, just remove the crimp, reload and shoot

From what I hear LC brass is one of the best for reloading outside of Lapua due to thicker case thickness, I bought 1000 new cases for try outs. Get the Dillon swager and load away. YMMV

        .

Or get the new swager from RCBS, I really liked my Dillon swager but it is a bit more than the RCBS swager.

If you only have a 100 and don't want to buy a swager at the moment. Use a #2 Phillips bit in a drill or drill press to remove crimp, or a 5/16 or 3/8 countersink

It's the same prep as any other rifle brass except you have to remove the crimp. 100 pieces should fly by, even if you cut the crimp out by hand.

You'll want a Dillon Super Swage when you get handed a 5 gallon bucket full of once fired LC brass. Don't ask me how I know.

Going to get one of the RCBS swaggers. Thanks!

Edit: Will my Forster Ultra 2-Die Set be ok to remove the primers?

On the bright side, you only have to do it once.

Or at least until you acquire another batch of crimped brass.

.223 is a PITA, especially if you have a bunch.

I'm sending these guys another 2K

That lee decapping die is the business!
I just got 450 round of free 5.56 brass and most of it's crimped.

The lee is making short work of them for sure.

Dude, it never ends. Keep in there tho. Once you buy the equipment, it's bought and you get to enjoy it.

                              Small Base Dies

You should be using .223 S/B dies. If not you will be on here again asking why your rounds don't always chamber. And when you screw the die down on the shell plate give it an extra half turn forcing down the shell plate for good measure. If you don't want to do that then you will be able to order a bullet puller from most anywhere
