Why is a tumbler a need? I use a tumbler as well but you can reload just fine without one. All that you do is take a couple seconds and wipe the case down before reloading. I also recommend a manual because they are enjoyable to read but I have found nothing in a manual that is not easily available online or youtube. Sure there is some lousy advise online but if you are stupid enough to start reloading after watching 1 youtube video or reading one post on a website then you deserve to blow yourself up and help the gene pool survive. You can get reloading data from the manufactures whereas 3 manuals will have 3 different load data.
The LEE classic turrret press is a great way to start. I started with just the bare essentials for pistol ( Press, dies, calibers, scale, LEE dippers ) and then once I knew for sure that I wanted to reload I spent the money on a tumbler and other nice but not needed accesories.
