Full length sizer and seating die

RCBS 308 WIN COMP. SEATER DIE, RCBS 308 WIN FL SIZER X-DIE and RCBS PRECISION MIC.

Anyone use these? How are they. I am currently using Lee sizer and Foster Micro meter seater die.

Yes. They are like Tony Tiger. I was using Lee before I switched.

I have the precision mic. Its nice to check shoulder bump and such. Measures to the ojive as well.

The comp seater die should have some sort of floating chamber to better align the bullet with the case before seating.
Forester, Redding and Hornady are like this too.
Highly recommended to improve concentricity.

The X-Die is a substistute for trimming once you have trimmed all the brass to one length and adjusted the X-Die.
The X-Die simply bumps the end of the case back after each firing.
I don't recommend this for precision ammo, but it's probably OK for blasting ammo.

The Precision Mic is an excellent tool, but you can get similar measurements with a Stony Point comparator as well.
I own many RCBS precision mics and prefer them to the stony point type comparators.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably go with the Redding bushing FL die. Set it up for about .002-.003 shoulder bump and get a bushing that will allow you to remove the expander ball for about .002 neck tension. That way theres no dragging the case back through the expander to add in some runout and overwork the neck.

Short of that, you would be very well served to just buy a Forester set.
The sizing die has the neat elevated expander.
The seating dies are benchrest style with floating cylinders.
I have even made custom cylinders with the same reamer that I chamber a barrel with.

I have gone to sizing without a neck expander and then using a Lyman M die to neck expand downward.
If I got some nice new brass and cared enough, I would probably get the Redding bushing full-length die as well.

Get 3 bushings.
Start with the loaded neck diameter of your existing ammo, or of ammo loaded in the brass you will be running.
Subtract 0.003", 0.004" and 0.005" and get those bushings.

If your loaded necks are running 0.337", you will want a 0.334", 0.333" and 0.332" bushings.

Remember that different brands of brass have different thicknesses.
You will eventually end up with lots more bushings.

I use Wilson hand-dies in an arbor press and they take the same bushings so I'm already set should I buy the redding die.

I need to bring my BR loading setup out to the range and really develop a 308 load.

I use a bushing .002" smaller than the measured diameter of the neck on my loaded ammo.
