Cheap 308 Ammo - $1 a bullet...is it really?

Even the cheap ammo is normally .80 - $1 a bullet for 308 win. I know someone selling 308WINchester China North Industries ammo. Like $81 for 180rds. Is it a good deal or is it not worth it because of quality issues?

I'm glad none of the gunshops here are charging $1 per round for .308.
Even shopping retail you should be able to get 200rnds of ammo for @$100.

i got on line like on gunbroker figuring its cheaper but i see prices like that. i'm worried the chinese ammo is not really any good though.

I'd buy Malaysian or Serbian before Chinese.

Palmetto has PRVI for $10 a box = $0.50 /rd and AE for $11 a box.

You can get Federal GMM for $1 or less per round.

What are you shooting out of; your buddy's prices are .45cents per round. I wouldn't know how Norinco ammo performs (hopefully it's non corrosive).

i'm using a dpms 308 and just want to get use to the rifl. nothing special but i cant find cheap ammo to play and get a feel of my rifle.

well reloading is no picnic either

3 cents for the primer around
25 cents for the bullet and
approx 25 cents for the powder


223 is so much cheaper at $10 cents a bullet and $12 cents for powder same for the primer but i found some at a gunshow on sale for $19.99 so that was like cents each

i wish i could find some chinese 308 for 40 cents each that stuff was great

thats nato, i can find nato rounds for real cheap but i have a 308 winchester rifle. not sure if i can use nato round in it. the bottle neck of the bullet is different.

actually, it's the opposite of the .223 vs 5.56 when you move up to .308. SAAMI lists higher pressure proofing rounds for .308 than 7.62 NATO. So, I always thought you could shoot 7.62 NATO in a .308 but you wanted to avoid shooting .308 out of a 7.62 chambered rifle.

NATO should be fine in .308...but not necessarily the other way around.

Last batch of 7.62x39 I bought from Norinco was corrosive. So, yeah they know how to make it, but I'll run non-corrosive whenever I can.
