I finally got my hands on some 62g FMJBT for my AR and I'm looking through my manuals for powder charges and none of them use Varget powders for their 62g loads. I know it shouldn't make a difference as I use Varget for my 55g and 69g just fine but I just wanted to be paranoid, uh I mean safe. Can I use Varget for these 62g projectiles?

New recipe powder question...

So meet me at the mission at midnight we'll divy up there.

You will be fine with Varget.
The Hodgdon site has data for 63 grain soft points, so you can get a basic idea from that. Just use you head as to what loads you start with.

I figured as much but thought I'd ask the stupid question anyway. Who knows maybe Varget won't ignite if loaded behind 62 grains of lead and copper. Thanks for the help."Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people.

I don't think its possible to get enough Varget in the case to cause issues with a 62gr bullet, not that I'm suggesting you try to. I've had really good luck with H4895 for some reason with the 52 - 55gr bullets but maybe that's just what my rifle prefers.Comment

Does Varget bridge the Dillon powder for .223 or it that just an internet rumor? I am having really good luck with reloader 15 and 77gr SMK.Comment
