    Forster Case Trimmer

Anybody ever used one? I'm thinking about picking up the "Original" kit for $67 to trim my brass. Sucks that there's nothing to catch the shavings.. so guess I'll be vacuuming a bit! I just need something better than my Lee hand trimmer which I bought when I was on a budget. Dang thing made trimming even 50 cases unbearable especially it you wait for a couple of reloadings before trimming!

Do you have that little attatchment for the Lee trimmer that goes on a drill? Makes it much easier. The forster is good. I have the hornady one and it works like the forster. Don't really use it since I got a Gracey.

Nope.. I got the fully manual Lee! The cheapest of the cheap! It served me well for $10 and got me started. Think I'll go ahead and get that Forster.. I don't reload enough to justify a high end power trimmer when I can buy bullets with my savings

Do you have a drill? You can use the Lee hand trimmer with that attachment and a drill. Its easy and cheaper. Check here.

Yeah, using the Lee lock stud/shell holder on a battery-powered drill makes it all too easy. Last time I did something like 200 cases, trimmed and chamfered, while watching TV. I only stopped because I got bored.

Don't remember if my lockstud has a place for my power drill to hold on to. It would still suck to have to hold the dang thing and unscrew it. That cutter with the ball would have been nice too! My fingers still hurt from trimming 50 of them this weekend..

It sure is cheap though. Hmm.. but don't feel like collecting case length gages..

The Lee drill-mounted cutter/lock stud is the best thing since sliced bread! It's definitely the best way to go.

With how cheap the case length gauges are, it shouldn't be a problem. 6.5, 223, 308...not too many.

Does the Forster have a motor?

I use the Lee thing (I also have a couple Possum' Hollow trimmers) and a drill. Goes quick.

Yes, you really need to use the cutter with the wooden ball on it. I can't imagine not using that guy either. Without the ball, you're going to get major finger/thumb cramps trying to hold onto that cutter all by itself.

Let me just say that your suspicions are confirmed.. that's why I need a new unit or come up with a new way of doing things.

Case length gauges? Just use your caliper.

I think he means for the Lee system. Without the case length gauge, theres no guide to do the trimming; it probably won't end up square. The case length gauge goes on the cutter and through the flash hole to the lock stud. The lock stud is on the drill.

Unless I'm missing something...thats how mine works.
