Primer question

I looked but could not find my answer using "Search".

What differences should I expect if I change the primers I am currently using (Winchester WLR) to CCI#200? I am handloading some .270Win, 140grain Hornady InterLock with 55.5 grains of H4831. This load is what I use for deer hunting in So. California. Thanks for the help.

The Winchester L/R you are using is a bit hotter (more brisance) primer than the CCI 200. You should be able to use the CCI 200 without having to lower your powder charge. There may be a very minor change in the point of impact.

You need to test the new ammo and adjust if necessary.

Google "primer brisance chart"...adjust for rifle or pistol. Remember, the values / figures are relative only. Nothing will replace properly working up a load. Here's an example (not my info):

I thought brisance was the "shattering power" of the concussion? It is only coincidentally related to heat. (WARNING: 60-year old memory at work)

I use CCI 400 SR for my AR's.

Have fired thousands of rounds using these primers without experiencing any slamfires.
