    Redding Scale

Hoping to get some insight beyond the reviews I saw on MidwayUSA. I'm in the market for a scale and after some research it seems that the RCBS 505 is a pretty commonly used and trusted scale. I tried to find some info here on the similar Redding #02 scale but did not come up with much.

Anyone have experience with the Redding scale?

    Thanks,

    Tim

I started with the Ohaus / RCBS 505, then went to an older Redding oil dampened scale, and finally to the new model Redding (No. 2), which IMHO, is the best of the three in terms of speed and consistency. I prefer gravity and leverage to electronics.

Dillon makes the nicest beam scale for the price. Last time I checked it was like $55 IIRC and also made by Ohaus like many of the good brands.

I have an old Redding and an RCBS 505 and prefer the RCBS to the Redding.

My buddy has the Dillon. If I was starting over without a scale, I'd get the Dillon one. Just as good as all the others for a fraction of the cost.

BTW if you're in the market for a nice digital scale, Dillon also makes one of the nicest in its price range as well. Since I got my Dillon digital my beam scales never see light. I double check the digi every few months with the beams but it's always dead on.

The bad news is the Dillon Eliminator recently went up in one big jump to $69.95. The good news is it is still the best value in a beam scale.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I found out about the Dillon scale from a post by XDRoX from last year (and again in this thread. Current prices for the Redding, RCBS 505 and Dillion gizmo all about the same. I imagine they're all just fine and I just need to go pick one up and move on.
                Thanks again....
