    h335 and Primers?

My question has anyone loaded 223 for AR rifle
    H335
    55grn bullet
    and using CCI 400 primers
my load book (speer)says to use CCI 450(magnum)primer
right now I have about 3000 primers(400) will I be safe or should I try a different powder say H4198 for the regular primers
    thanks

Yes, I have successfully loaded and fired 223 cartrdiges with 55 grain bullets, Hodgdon H335, and CCI 400 primers.

All 800 or so rounds that I have shot have ignited reliably.

I can not say the same for the same load primed with Russian small rifle (standard and/or magnum) primers. I got frequent hang-fires and duds.

Good combo, stick with the 335, 55gr, and CCI SRP (400). You won't be sorry.

The CCI 400 will work in normal temperatures. There may be issue with the 400's lighting in temperatures below freezing. Ball powders are a bit harder to ignite in the cold, that is why most manuals (especially Speer) recommend magnum primers with any ball powder.

                You're good. Try 24-25.0 grains of H335
                Semper Fi
