happen to have an extra $500 or so in my pocket for a gun sale and want to start reloading some 45acp. Could someone point me to a nice setup that has everything so I can get started. Thanks ahead of time.

If all youre planning on reloading is .45 then you could consider the Dillon Square Deal B. Check it out on Dillon's site. This is a dedicated press, for handgun loads only. You buy it set up in the caliber you desire and put all the pieces together. However, if youre reloading multiple calibers, the Dillon 550 would be the one I'd look at. I just dont think youd be able to do it for 500 bux. I know the Hornady progressive is pretty nice, and a bit cheaper than the Dillon, but you dont get the no BS warranty that youd get from Dillon either. Pick your poison. Hope this helps.Comment

You could look at it 2 ways.
A LEE classic turret press and a whole ton of supplies, or a much more expensive RCBS or other set up and then save up for supllies..CALGUNS DICTIONARY "FLIER": when a shooter wants to turn a 1 inch group to a half inch group because he flinched.Comment

lee pro 1000 with carbide dies 169.00 I can load 200 rounds in 15 minutes.Comment

Start with a single stage press and pick a bulky powder that fills the case more than 50-60% until you have a few rounds under your belt. The lee kit will get you started but I prefer RCBS or Hornady. If you do go progressive, skip straight to the DillonComment

I have been looking at a pro 1000 myself. They can be challenging to set up from what I have researched ( no personnal experience yett ). One nice thing about the LEE single stage or Classic turrt press is that they are as simple as you get and you can still kick out 50 rounds in 15 minutes with the Turret. Changing calibers is also much cheaper.CALGUNS DICTIONARY "FLIER": when a shooter wants to turn a 1 inch group to a half inch group because he flinched.Comment

I second the Lee Classic Turret idea. Also buy Lee Deluxe dies, some extra decap pins, an Autodisk Pro powder drop, an auto disk extender tube, a caliper to measure OAL, a vibratory tumbler and some walnut or corn cob media, an RCBS 502 or Dillon Eliminator beam scale, an RCBS impact bullet puller, Lee 2nd Edition Reloading Manual or the Lyman's reloading manual, some components and go to town.
I would buy the Lee stuff from this guy: https://factorysales.com/html/company.html
I would buy the other stuff from Graf and Sons or Brian Enos (for the Dillon Scale).
I am sure there are a few other things, but that should get you going quickly.
PS - I agree with the previous advice if you decide to progressive right out of the gate, go Dillon and check out Brian Enos' forum and call Brian Enos before buying.Last edited by Bill Steele; 01-22-2012, 8:39 PM.When asked what qualities he most valued in his generals, Napoleon said, "give me lucky ones."Comment
