Ok so I am expanded my reloading and just looking to see where everyone gets thier brass?

Another plus if you have a recipe good for lightcowboy type loads. Really a plus if said recipe uses bullseye.

I buy ammunition and save the cases. Don't shoot too much magnum. You probably won't find any cowboy loads for the magnum, but you will for Special and Russian. I buy Starline brass for those.

I have loaded 6.0gr of Bullseye under a 240gr LSWC Elmer Keith style bullet. Very light recoil, about 900fps, not a particularly great load. BE is just a little too fast for .44RM.

I think for light cowboy loads many people use Trailboss. It is not my favorite powder, but many love it. You won't have to worry about a double charge with Trailboss.

I personally use W231 for my light target loads in .44RM.

I just ordered 500 Remington .44 magnum cases from Cabela's today and got their free shipping promotion. I wanted to order from Starline brass but they are backordered for at least a month. I ordered 1000 .357 mag cases from Starline a while back and they are very good quality.

The Remington brand .44 mag cases are substantially more expensive than Starline, but I'm getting a new S&W 629 PC in about a week and I need cases now, so I ordered the Remington cases from Cabela's. I read a few mixed reviews about Remington brass for .44, but reviews for other brands had mixed reviews as well so I ended up going with the Remington ones. The majority of reviews for Remington .44mag brass were good. Sometimes a few negative internet reviews can make a product seem bad when it's really not, plus, who even knows if it's just the reviewer with a chip on their shoulder.

Cabela's probably isn't the cheapest place to order brass from but I've never had a problem with their shipping and I like how you can see if they have the product in stock so you don't order and then find out the product was on backorder all along and have to wait. I also like how Cabela's has promotional discounts and shipping discounts regularly. I use my Cabela's credit card for most my purchases and it builds up Cabela's points that offset the extra amount I may have to pay, so it ends up being less expensive in the end for me.

I've never loaded .44 magnum yet but I have W231 powder and plan on loading light to medium loads with it to start. The Speer manual has several loads listed using W231 for .44 magnum.

Yikes yeah cabelas has it in stock but good grief they are pricy....lol sticker shock.

not really looking for mag type loads but the option to run off a box or two down the road would be nice.

My favorite .44RM target load for W231 is 8.1grs, under a 240gr Elmer Keith style LSWC, seated to 1.6" OAL (basically center the cannelure to the crimp), a little over 1000fps, easy on the hands, very accurate load for my 6" Model 29.

Guess I should be a bit more precise with what I am doing.

Very basic handgun/levergun cowboy combo. Not doing competitions just plinking range desert toy. My main reason for going magnum is from what I have read some guns will not chamber the shorter 44 as well. I like to KISS my loads, This is not saying that a few loads for the superblackhawk will not be pushed as fast/heavy/accurate as I dare, well within published limits....lol

But my main loading will be for cowboy action type. reliable feeds in the lever Rosii M92

Back to my KISS liking I like to order in bulk, load in bulk,shoot in bulk.lol I dont want to fuss with my bulk loadings, as in ammo can filled with .44 run it in either guns. few boxes well marked for pistola only... but Those I will play with later

If it is possible for me to utilize one of the powders I allready buy in bulk that would be great. Those are bullseye(no data in 49th ed.) and W231 (I'll have to look again dont recall seeing a whole lot though)

I've picked up 44 mag brass in the for sale section a few times, it disappears very fast though, I've seen it 3 times in the last several months and bought it twice( I'm sure I've missed seeing it a few times).

I love Bullseye for plinking powder. One pound goes a long way. Yes you can use it in 44 mag. Just use standard primers or better yet Winchester WLP (works for both standard and magnum), Use 5.5 to 6.5 grains of Bullseye behind 240 gr. SWC lead bullets. That's around 1150 loads per pound of powder.

I use .44 mag cases for all my loads, light to heavy to outrageous, because of the crud left by shorter cases. I took the approach of buying 500 new Winchester cases all at once, for consistencies sake. And for my Bullseye loads, I used 6.0 (give or take) grains of powder behind a 200 grain RNFP Oregon Trial bullet. I used that because it looks authentic and doesn't rise up much, but I will be the first to say it doesn't give gilt-edged accuracy. The same load can be used out of a rifle. Be prepared to clean your weapons when you get home, though. It leaves my barrels fairly dirty.
