    7mm for 1895 Mauser

I have a Chilean Mauser and I do reloads, but I keep hearing stuff about how the 95s cannot handle more modern mauser loads due to it having the weaker mauser action. I cannot seem to find much on the internet so I thought someone here would know.

    Any loading tips? Pleeeeease...

I load for a large ring 1912 Chilean.

Published load data will be safe for your small ring action granted there are not any worn/damaged/etc. parts. The large ring actions will take a lot, but mine shoots fine at lower pressures.

Now that's odd. I was under the impression that modern 7mm loads are deliberately kept under max BECAUSE of the old Mausers that are still out there. I know in my Speer book #11, they suggest that their starting loads be considered max for the old '92, '93 and '95 Mausers. BUT that book is quite old now as far as manuals go.

My Hornady books combusted into flames when I tried to research this. I knew my Lyman had a good description. Now only if I could find it...

I think the 7mm caution was for the peck of rolling blocks around not the mausers. M93 should handle about 40k+ cup without a problem.

Gunboat, keep in mind this is old information, but the Speer 11 says "The SAAMI pressure limit for the 7 x 57 is 46000 cup. These loads are limited to 50000 cup for use in modern bolt action rifles only. The bottom load with each powder should be considered absolute maximum if the cartridges are to be fired in early military rifles like the Mauser Models 1892, 93, 95, Remington-Lee and Remington Rolling block" So we're both right.
I've always liked the 7x57 cartridge. If I ever owned one, I would have considered myself well armed for anything I wanted to do with a rifle.
