i recently setup my rcbs swager and the instructions are vague. my question is, what should I be looking for to verify the crimp is satisfactorly swaged? I've run a few cases through and they dont seem to offer any resiistance they just sit right down on the swage nub, there is no room for any movement downward onto the nub. The brass i'm using is LC 88 that has had all the primers removed (not by me) is it possible that they've already been swaged? I've seen pics of commercial vs mil crimp style and i can definitely see the ring on my lc brass but the swaging operation seems to have little effect.

It's a hassle to set just perfect. Swage too little and primers still snag on the way in. Swage too much and primers won't stay in ruining that piece of brass. So better to error on the side of too little obviously. It's best to have two presses set up, one with the swager and one ready to seat primer or a hand primer. That way you can continuously adjust the swager until its just right. But yes, it's a hassle to get exactly right and then different brands of brass may react slightly different.
Good luck.Chris

Post a pic. If you bought processed brass then they could be swagged.Comment

The tell tale is to prime one or a few. If it goes in with some resistance, it's gtg. If you're taco-ing primers, there's too much crimp there.Reloaders: Stay safe, even the things you don't see may bite you. Read more here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=495909Comment
