    Rusty Dies

Hey guys my reloading dies keep getting rusty. I have tried WD40, Rem Oil, and butch's oil. Still keep getting really bad rust. I am not applying enough or should I apply more often. Any suggestions.

I use gun lube and then large ziplock bags.

I've had good luck with Eezox rust preventative. Leaves a hard film, goes on easy, will remove some of the rust (not pitted stuff) with a little elbow grease or Dremel action. My results and more info here.

For removing the rust - 0000 steel wool with Hoppes No. 9 or some other solvent and then a rag with Flitz. I then wash them with hot soapy water.

Rust prevention - completely lubed up with Eezox! Best rust preventive I've see by far! Then I put them in my safe (temperature controlled environment).

            Perhaps you are a "rusty"
Some folks have a high acidic body oil secretion which causes the items to start rusting almost immediately.-

I fit into this category. I destroy blueing that is not properly cared for.

Don't use WD40 it's not a lube, it displaces water (and that's about the only thing it's good for)

Having rust problems on my Lee dies, did a quick search and this came up. Decided to bring it back.

My dies are starting to have rust of them like the OP's and I've been using Breakfree LP on them. After trial and error with a wire brush, Im thinking about completely taking apart the dies and dropping them in my tumbler. A few hours and some NuFinish might help to clear it up?

I have never tried on dies but to rid hand tools
and whatnot of rust I have had excellent results using plain vinegar to remove rust.
