    Who re-loads 45-70?

Are you in the Bay Area (san jose)? I just picked up a Marlin 1895 and would like to put some ammo together. I have all the components to make the ammo just no press and knowledge of the 45-70.

Anyone interested in showing the ropes of the 45-70?

This feels like an awkward craigslist personal ad, but I promise its only for making ammo.

If you want to drive over to the Modesto area I have what you need.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I appreciate the offer, a little far for me to drive.

        .45-70

Press? You don't need a press to start, just get one of these: http://leeprecision.com/xcart/LEE-LO...5-70-GOVT.html that's how I started back when Eisenhower was President (or was it Kennedy?). Used to ride my bicycle down to the gun shop and pick up a box of bullets, can of powder and tray of primers. Read the instructions and load away. The .45-70 loads just like a long revolver cartridge. Nothing special, just deprime, size, prime, expand the mouth, charge with powder and seat the bullet.

If you want to get fancy, faster and save a few bucks get one of these: http://leeprecision.com/xcart/50th-A...enger-Kit.html

Purchase any reloading manual and the steps are clearly outlined. Hell, I was a fifteen year old kid and taught myself. Even loaded shotgun shells with a set of Lee hand tools (no longer made). Lee has video instructions online http://leeprecision.com/xcart/Help-Videos.html or check this video on handgun reloading, it's the same steps as a straight walled rifle case. http://ammosmith.com/basic-reloading...-reloading.php there are other video sources just Google Ammunition Reloading Videos.

Want something more fancy still? Check the kits by any of the reloading equipment manufacturers. It ain't rocket science. I know you'll do fine if you read the manuals.

Do you have everything, primers, powder, bullets and brass ?
Send me a pm and maybe we can work something out - gb

If you have dies I can help you out in Livermore (I load for .444 marlin which is similar). You'll want to have decided on a power level before we start. Figure we'll zip up 60 rounds or so so you can have a nice day of shooting and that should give you the lessons you need to go get a press kit and supplies and feel comfy rolling your own.
