Just got my first press. SDB

Hello, I am going to be starting to load my own loads for USPSA. I am shpooting single stack in 45ACP. What is the best performance combo for the following:

    reduced recoil
    excess powder (dirty)
    quick load

    200gr vs 230gr
    Powder - Vith/WST/W231

    Any input will be appreciated.

    Derek

Loading to meet Major Power Factor, I think the recoil argument is bunk. Ya know, Lighter bullet/more powder vs Heavy bullet/less powder. Anybody ever actually test this?

I loaded a 230 gr bullet / W231. Have to be home in order to check the powder charge in my logbook. W231 is pretty clean burning in my experience.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Im not sure i understand your question... Are you looking for a load that will have light recoil, be excessively dirty, and be fast to load?

Or are you looking for light recoil, clean, and faster FPS?

I have a thing for W231 and 230 grn bullets, but i dont shoot competatively and my goal when loading is usually velocity/acuracy, not reduced recoil. Cleanliness is just a pleasant bonus, luckily ive found acuracy and cleanliness to go somewhat hand in hand

How much does a sdb cost? I had acquired an abandoned one set up for .45 about 7 years ago. I had no .45 guns, and was looking to reload 223. I bought a lct and was a complete and utter noob at reloading. I took it in to asr reloading store to get info, was told it needed some parts repaired. When it came time for the wife and I to move, whatever I had no use for got left behind/discarded. Fast forward to now and I really wish I would have just kept it. Not that big a deal since it wasn't a progressive press, but still.

Does it matter if I use cast bullets or FMJ?
