There are pros and cons about crimping without. It does distort the bullet and Speer strongly advises against it. She (lee) claims it improves accuracy. Yet benchrest shooters do not crimp and they are the most accuracy people. "I" will not crimp a rifle round unless I have a problem which I never have had. "I" do crimp pistol rounds with my 44mag/454casull/500S&W getting strong crimps and my auto rounds as light as I can.
