    Reloading the 8x56R

All right guys there is not a lot on the internet about reloading this round. I have some .329 Horndy spot point 205 grain bullets along with some 8x56 PP brass.

There is real no recipe in allot of the reloading books i`ve seen. The only book i`ve seen with data is cartridges from around the world that say to us 45 grains of IMR3031 as military load with a 206 grain bullet which will launch it at 2300FPS. It dose not give you highest or lowest amount of powder you can use or does it tell you any other powders to use.

The lee dies I got to reload the round came with some recipes. But it dose not have near the weight of bullet i`m usin it has them for 200 grain bullets and call for accurate 4350 at 40.7 grains at 2039fps ,3100 49.0 grains at 1980fps, ,8700 54.4 grains at 1512 fps. From what i read online people say they use 8mm reloading data from there dies but I cant confirm this. They also say the data for this give you bad accuracy.

So what are your thoughts I think i`m going to go with the 3031 recipe because it is the closest to to what I am using.

I've been using H4831sc with the hornady 205's. I'll check the charge weight when I get home if you'd like. It's just shy of being a compressed load, but shoots pretty well and shows no pressure signs.

All the lee data I've tried has been under powered and left sooty cases until i started working the loads up.

You might check the Hodgdon website and see if they have any data on this one.

Yeah sounds about right with the lee data, I dint hear good things online about it.

I think I may just go with the 3031 but maybe a couple grains lighter. Maybe I will get a Chronograph.

Have you checked the steyr-mannlicher section on the surplus rifle forum?

I have a bunch of 220 gr cast with gas checks and I was looking for data about 6 months ago. I came across some data for 205 gr fmj so I put it in my book incase I buy some in the future, 42 grains of H4895 @ 1932 fps, 45 grains of H4895 @2054 fps and showed 48 grains max load but did not give a fps.

I am using 24 to 28 grains of IMR 3031 for my cast bullets and it is a pretty light load.

I have the 8x56r lee dies also and there is not alot of data on the card.
