Hand Priming Tool?

What are you guys using to prime cases by hand?

I am looking for a high quality piece that will allow me to comfortable allow me to prime a good number of cases without issue (maybe 500-1000 at most)

I saw a new one by lee called the ergo-prime that seemed interesting but doesnt look like its shipping out yet.

What do you guys use and like?

I have only used the lee auto prime for .223. So far no issues.

It's one of the few good things that Lee makes. I've got one of their OLD hand primers. Used it for years and no issues. If I didn't get the Lee, I'd have likely got the RCBS.

Lee Auto Prime XR, I've also used a older Lee hand prime with the round primer holder. They both work Great. You do need specific shell holders for the calibers your going to use.

Not sure if RCBS is the same.

EDIT: Looks like the RCBS uses the single stage shell holders that come with their dies if I recall correctly. I'd go RCBS if you have RCBS dies that include the shell holder.

I have one of the older Lee hand primers with the round holder. It makes a lot of noise and creakes when I use it, but it primes eveything perfectly all the time. And if I flexed as many times as that little jewel has over the past 20 years, I'd creak too! Love it!

I use lee, it came with a shellholder set that fits most common rounds. It works extremely well and it makes priming easy enough that you can do it while watching TV. I have issues with the plastic cover though, the plastic tabs that hold it into place break alot

I use the RCBS and it works great. When I get a good rhythm going I can crank our a lot of casings. I usually do about 500 pretty fast. Only complaint is that it can make the skin in the web of your hand sore if you do too many days in a row with that many. Could just be my big mits though

I use the Hornady hand primer....why? Cuz it came with the LnL kit I bought...It just happens to work well too

I have both Lee and RCBS, I like the RCBS a little better, but either will get the job done.

The lee hand primer is one of the few things I like from lee. I have used 2 for many years. Set up one each for large and small primers. I got mine before RCBS had one with the primer tray. If I was buying now I might get the RCBS one with the tray and just use the die shellholders for my RCBS dies. I like RCBS dies but have Redding/Lyman and Hornady dies so I will keep using the lee unit.

One word--Be sure to lube it as they say or the lever will wear and not seat the primers. I need not tell you how I found this out.

I use the Lee autoprime, the one that was out before the XR. People who use LEE products tend to like the auto and not like the XR as much. Is that why I got it?

Nope, it's what I found at a gun show for cheap.

And works well. Never tried the RCBS model.

Yes the RCBS is the same way. Different shell-holders for the different calibers.

RCBS makes a universal model that does not require caliber specific shell holder.
