    .357 magnum super?

I bought a bit of 38spl and .357 magnum brass but mixed in I've found some .357 super magnum brass it seems to be the same size as .357 mag brass but it resets my decapping pin... Ive never heard of .357 magnum super before do people still shoot the round? If so I could sell them off as I've got a few or if not I'll just scrap em

The Super mag was invented by Elgin Gates (of IHMSA fame) the cases were .3" longer than the standard 357 magnum. There was a whole group of cartridges in 357, 375, 44, 45 and 50 cal if I remember correctly.

Who made a Super Mag Revolver?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I thought it was called .357 Maximum.

Maximum. VERY popular to buy a 357 Handi-Rifle and ream it to 357 maximum.

Ruger made a blackhawk in .357 max for a short while, then pulled it from production due to top strap flame cutting and forcing cone erosion. That was due to the factory ammo at the time. I reloaded using 4227 and had no problems, wish I wouldn't have sold it. Also loaded it up with .358 speer 180 grs in my Thompson Contender. Kicked like a mule, but was very accurate and knocked those rams down a lot harder than a .44 mag.

The 357 Maximum is the commercial version but before it was named that Elgin came up with the Super mag.
