Can you remove the shellholder and case from the press? If so, just pry the primer out with a small screwdriver or pick.

Soak it in water before working on it for added safety.

I would just deprime it with the press like it was spent primer.

just use the de-caping die, slow steady pressure, I have had hundreds of sideways and even upside down primers. (eyes and ears would be a good idea) but I have never and I mean never had one go off.

(just to test I have taken primers in a pair of pliers and made them flat none have gone off) they are more stable then you think. but do have eyes and ears on.

Just get it out with some small pliers. If you are worried about it going off, soak it in some oil. Wear your eyes and ears of course.

I agree with PDQ, just slow steady pressure with the press should do it. But that might depend on the press you have if you even can do that. If you can do it, try that first. It's probably the simplest.

Priming compound is shipped in water to the primer manufactures.

Put a drop of petroleum based oil on it. It will deactivate the primer.
