    What To Shoot? HELP!!!!

Okay, so I am getting back into shooting and have recently purchased the two guns listed below. I have shot these calibers before, but I haven't purchased the ammo for them.

    XD 9
AR-15 5.56/.223, 1/7 twist, chrome lined bore and chamber

I have heard the XD9 eats ammo, but does that mean that any 9mm ammo is fine to throw in it? I believe 115 grain is what they use at the range for this same gun.....is that the best? any other things I should consider?

For the 5.56/.223, will any .223 or 5.56 ammo work, or are there other things to consider? What grain should I be using?

I am looking for a couple of good brands to range shoot with, preferably something that I can easily purchase at a Big 5 or Walmart as I can't wait for mail order because I want to hit the range soon. I do not want cheap stuff, but I also don't want expensive stuff either. Just a good range round.

So, any suggestions on where to start for those calibers, ex. grain, brand, etc.

I know that's a lot of info, but I would appreciate your help.

Your XD will shoot anything. Find the cheapest stuff you can at Walmart or online and have a blast.

Your AR will be a little more picky so try some different types before you buy bulk. 1 in 7 you can probably shoot just about anything.

xd9- winchester white box value pack or remington UMC mega packs

for your AR. you have a 1:7" twist so you can use 55gr - 90gr. depends what you want to do. are you just hole punching or are you trying to punch the same hole as many times as you can? i use 62gr for my ar

          Seconded

Cheapest 9mm will work fine in the XD, i used to use tons of Brown bear when i could get away with it.

for .223 I shoot wolf when i go to BLM land and ive never had any problems with it, unfortunatley my local range doesnt allow it so i shoot reloads or American Eagle

Yes.....save all of your once fired brass so when you decide to reload in the future that's one less item to purchase.

And get a brass catching net because picking up 200 rounds of 9mm brass is a PITA.
