    Projectile manufacturing machine?

Anyone ever seen a bullet (projectile) making machine in operation? I cant seem to find any info anywhere about machines, name brands, videos of, etc.

What would a machine cost that could hammer out 500-1,000 copper jacketed projectiles (like 223 or 308) per hour?

yeah, occasionally on the outdoor channel they'll show the inside of the remington ammo factory.

you'll need a series of machines...

a jacket former to take copper sheet and form cups from it, then jackets from the cups.
a cutting machine to form lead rope into projectile cores
a swaging machine to shove the cores into the jackets
    a nose forming machine .

Or for solids or mono-metal non-toxics, a high precision high speed comparison lathe with some custom add-ons. I used to make propellers on such a device. As soon as it finishes a cut it kicks the workpiece onto the pile and allows you several seconds to chuck in the next blank before it resets and begins cutting again. This would have to be hopper fed and run at a very high speed to hit your volume requirement.

The tooling costs are going to be pretty high. You'll be looking at spitting a completed bullet out ever 3-6 seconds at the rate you're talking about. I'd think about pumping out 10K per hour so the machines can eventually pay for themselves.

I'd talk to a millwright and do a tour of a factory before jumping too deep into that pond.

You would probably have to spend a small fortune, definatley enough that it wouldnt make sense to make them just for personal use.

You ever think about getting a swaging press? ive been waiting for someone on this forum to start doing it. I priced it out, its about $1k to get started and you can make some really cool projectiles

I think you can even just buy swaging dies and use them in a rock chucker, some guy on youtube does it and makes jackets out of scrap brass

You wouldnt be able to pump them out super fast, but it would be damn cool anyway

this is just lead, I bet it would run over 100k for the setup you are talking about.

I know a Calgunner who is making his own 223 bullets in his garage. He knows who it is, but I can't say w/o permission.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

Corbin is the one that I saw that makes "inexpensive" jackets possible for 223 bullets....they have the dies to draw a jacket out of spent 22LR cases:

                    FOR SALE:

Yep, but it cannot do 1,000/hr which is what I was looking for. I think this is way out of my budget and probably millions of dollars in huge equipment.

Wow that thing is old and its also 500v. I had no idea it was so complex. Guess I never gave it much thought. He doesnt really say if it only does lead or copper jacketed lead.
