    Expand .270brass?

Can 270win brass be resized to 30.06?

I suppose so, considering a 270 is just a .30-06 necked down. But unless you have a bunch of 270 brass and only a .30-06 to shoot, why would you make the effort? It's not like there's a shortage of '30-06 brass. I have never resized brass. You might need to somehow heat treat the metal you have stretched. Any other CALGUNers, feel free to jump on board here.

It' done all the time 270 to 06 and 06 to 270 but it's not smart, if you think about it? and if anyone else get's ahold of it or your buddy at the range has a 270 and your shooting an 06 in 270 brass.......

The bolt won't close on it in a .270. No worry.

Where are you located? If you need some 30-06 I can trade for the 270. I do not shoot a 270 but have a friend who does.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

It "could" be but since 30-06 isn't a wildcat I don't see the advantage in doing so. If you have way too much .270 brass you could probably sell or trade for what you need and come out ahead.

If it's loaded, fire form it. Works fine.

Are you suggesting he put a .270 round in a 30-06 chamber and touch it off????

No reason you can't. The groups won't look great, but the brass will "fire form."

Found 5 rounds of 270 brass that been fired in 30-06 at spencville last year, just resized and shortened the case.Cycled fine in a garand.
Did mark the head of the case red just as a reminder.

I trim and resize 30-06 to 8x57mm Mauser then anneal the neck and shoulder.
Should work the same for 270 - 30-06

Like said above- it can be done --but why?

There is so much more 30-06 brass out there than 270
                              Trade if you need it
