    Hornady Lock-n-Load Sonic

I am using the sonic cleaner and solution on 100+ .223 shells at a time. Have found increased luck with standing them on end, head down but the primer pockets still have some buildup in them. The inside of the cases look mirror clean.

Reloading bulk Nolser 69g FMJBT for steels to 800y, not looking for 1/4 MOA. Any suggestions? Leave em as is? Brush out the primer hold? Go full type-A anyway?

Have you tried putting fewer cases in per batch?
With nothing but water/drop of Dawn, I've found that the pure ultrasonic action doesn't do much good for more than about 20 cases in a 24 minute cleaning cycle. With the Hornady or home brew citric acid bath, you can do a lot more, but brass is an excellent absorber of that sonic energy and the effectiveness goes down as the number of cases in the tank goes up.

I think it's up to you, a twist with a pocket cleaning brush on each shell, more time in the bath or more batches with fewer cases per batch.

Have you tried to measure the increased accuracy of clean primer pockets or is it one of those "it just makes me feel better" things? There's nothing wrong with that, after all having fun with all this is what its all about.

Not to shamelessly promote my thread but this might help.

I have to say though the tumbling is not necessary. I like shiny things so that's why I do it.

I tried a few different high end ultrasonic cleaners. Sold them all. Cleaning the primer pockets was so hit and miss, the outside of brass still needed to be tumbled and with the amount of brass I needed to process it took longer in the sonic cleaner. Great if you don't mind processing 20 pieces at a time and have 5-10 pieces come out half clean. I tried all kinds of different additives. Found distilled water and 10% distilled vinegar works the best.
