Yup! That's the wife's on the left and mine on the right in my avatar. We don't get up that way much tho...and we're not really built for Johnson Valley. Usually we'll head to Anza Borrego area for our fun.
Since powder is coated with graphite to help it meter well, your powder drop has already been treated some. Perhaps there's a burr or maybe a rough casting on the body that's causing issues?
Is the linkage perhaps preventing a smooth stroke? Large case length variations perhaps?
Are you getting a full stroke of the rotor? I set mine to where it barely cams over at the top to ensure minor variations in brass length will not affect charge. I'm also using a Powder Funnel PTX to flare the brass, so the brass won't get damaged by this slight camming, just minor differences in flare that's removed during the crimp process to remove the case bell.
If using the Hornady micrometer pistol insert, make sure the small screw that holds the micrometer cap to the stem is tight. I had the same prob with larger then normal charge variations recently and finally found that issue. This allowed the stem to move back and forth a bit inside the rotor and changed the volume. A touch of locktite and all is well. Coincidentally it was also while using Unique, but for some .44 Spl.
