I've finally got off my duff and started to work up some rifle loads. While getting everything setup, I was looking for an elevated place to put the Powder drop from my Hornady LnL press that was convenient to my RCBS Rockchucker. I had the inexpensive flat bracket and was going to attach it to a shelf above the bench, but the reach would suck big time. I didn't want to spend $40 on the cast stand Hornady sells, nor did I want something else attached to the bench getting in the way of other work. Then inspiration struck...I attached it directly to the press.

The flat bracket has a 7/8" hole on one end for the powder drop and a 1 3/16" hole on the other, matching the threaded bushing in many single stage presses. In my case I've installed the Hornady LnL bushing setup, but this trick will also work without that conversion. I just disconnected the powder drop linkage and removed the lower pieces, bolted on the handle, used a standard locknut underneath to hold it, and I was in business. It doesn't interfere with the press at all, I went through all the steps in making rounds without any problems with it sitting there. It's handy as heck, just drop the charge then seat the bullet.
This may not be a new idea, but in all the loading bench pictures I've seen I've not seen it done this way that I recall. Here's a closer look to show how it's back out of the way of loading with the RCBS. The handle is easy to operate also, I find the whole setup is pretty intuitive for me.

Have fun,
Mark
