Best brand for the range would be the cheapest you can find, most likely reloads. For home defense people will tell you hollow points, but im more than willing to use regular jacketed rounds for HD

they expand on impact thereby causing increased damage, and if they hit a wall and expand they can lose enough energy to protect innocents

I use winchester white box for range... I stay away from reloads cuz of kaboom possibilities...
            Federal HST for HD...

I personally only use and trust Hornady Critical Defense. It is a hollow point bullet that has flex tip to fill the hole cavity. The flex tip does two things. 1) covers the bullet cavity which will greatly minimize or eliminate FTF. (in situations where you will need your firearm God forbid the FTF) 2) Flex tip ensures 100% expansion everytime. believe it or not hollow points have the tendency to not expand and stay fully intact after it has been shot.

PS. great choice of caliber. I only use 40S&W and will trust my life on it.
