    Temperarue and powder drop.

So I was loading up some 40cal tonight. I went off of my notes and was going to load up some 165gr copper plated with 4.7gr of W231. I always weigh before I start loading and low and behold the .43 disk on my powder drop now is dropping 4.4gr. This summer it was dropping 4.7gr so I am wondering if it is the fact that it is alot colder in my garage and somehow that is effecting the volume of powder being dropped.

Its certainly possible, i would think the plastic disks would expand and contract more than the powder would

I brought the powder drop in near the fireplace to warm it back up for an hour or so and then did some test drops indoors and it is reading the same. I think that I am just remembering wrong from last summer. I took notes but I was loading Titgroup in one disk and W231 in another disk. The Titgroup is metering the same and the W231 is off one disk, so I think that I just wrote down the wrong disk last summer. I guess I will know for sure next summer if I am off again. I find it hard to believe thata 40 degree temperature difference could effect it by about 5%.

Yeah if the powder was expanding and contracting by that much it would probably be splitting and cracking/deforming. Which would probably change the burn dynamics quite a bit.

Bring the powder near the fireplace and see if that expands. I bet it will. (<-- sarcasm) On second thought, better skip that.
