    Anybody reload 7mm mauser?

Pulled Pop's Brazilian 1908 out of the safe and took it to the range on Thanksgiving day. I don't think its been fired in 30 years as I'm 32 and can't ever remember him bringing it out. All I could find for ammo was big 5 Remington soft point and it was shooting about a foot low at 200 yds. I have dies, some 140gr noslers and I'll soon have about 40 pieces of brass. anybody have a pet load?

Do you have a powder picked out?

I'm using a max load of Varget under a Sierra 175 seated out long in my Chilean 7mm (large ring action). The rifle is in excellent like-new condition, so I am not concerned with pushing the velocity/pressure up. I bet the Remington factory loads were too light to fire form the brass so you may have to bump the shoulder just slightly to get them to chamber smoothly. Hotter reloads will cause the brass to fire form.

I was going to try H4350. This one is also a large ring and all the parts match. Bore looks to be in great shape and is it ever long...

my pet load is 46 grains H4350 with 140 grain sierra pro hunters. clover leafs at 100 yards in a cold barrel in my gun, Interarms Mark X. That's my load, not yours.

The other pet load is the same bullet with 16 grains of trailboss, clover leafs at 50 yards, maybe 2 inches give or take at 100 yards. Give or take.

Moving to cast bullets, I can't get H4350 to shoot, I've been recommended 4395 and 2400, haven't tried them yet. 12 grains trailboss is sub MOA at 50 yards, 100% success steel shots at 100 yards. (100 yard groups not that great.)

Final pet load is 47 grains H4350 with a barnes ttsx at 140 grains, and that really is my load, not yours. If I were a thinking man I'd try it at 200 yards today but probably won't make it this month. 1 hole group with a cold barrel.

          ----------

If the prohunters are dead on, the barnes are 3" high and the trailboss rounds all 12-15 inches low at 100 yards.

Don't know anything about H4350...their website makes it sound like it's blended for Magnum calibers? Sound like other had good success...if it doesn't work out try some Varget. Can't go wrong. It shoots good in every rifle I load for.

I have used Varget in my 6.5 swede, shoots great.

I guess it doesn't matter but I was thinking it might be more consistent with a larger charge of a slower powder.
