    AR 5.56 Ammunition

Weapons world has that special going for Federal NATO 55g 5.56 ammo.

I have a BCM upper with a 5.56 chamber but I have 1/7 twist barrel. I've been told that I should be shooting 62 grain and up ammo with this upper. Is that correct? Thanks

Or buy a small box locally and try before you buy.

i have the same upper and shoot 55 grain perfectly fine with no problems. the lower twist just gives us the opportunity to shoot the heavier rounds more accurately too

That's what I was thinking. In my 1-8, 55gr goes bang and maybe accomplish a 2.5" group. Not good enough for what I'm looking to do.

So I'm wondering what the OP's standards are? Does he want moa, sub moa, plinking rds???

No this is my "deep larder" pack it away ammo. I loved the way the PFS 62g .223 performed in my carbine at the last class I took I was just curious.

About the same here, I load light so my kids can plink away. I load 69 gr and 75 gr mainly for myself. Either work great in my 24" w/ 1 in 8"(both) or my 16" w/ 1 in 9"(69 gr.).

You will be fine shooting 55 grainers in a 1/7 rifling. I would consider around 2" at 100 yards decent for a 55 grainer coming out of a 1/7 rifling. That's good enough for informal paper punching or plinking.
