Speer reloading manual from 1974

So I got a Speer reloading manual volume#9 with a bunch of 30+ year old RCBS reloading equipment today. A lot of reloaders had huge sideburns and mustaches back then. It talks about a file case trimming die that was set to a certain lenth and then you would run a file over the top of the die to trim the case to a specific lenth. I got 4 boxes of pistol primers that had .96cents price tags and a can of S&W/Alcon powder that was originally $4.00. All of the powder ( 5 different rifle powders smelled like gun powder and it all looked good as far as the condition of the sticks ). I am currently cleaning up the RCBS Junior press and the powder drop since both have some surface rust on the exposed parts that are not painted. I have got to say that cast iron press is built like a tank. I even got a 308 Lee Classic loader which I look forward to using. I am curious about a set of dies that came with teh set up. They are precision rifle dies thaty have numbers on the bullet seating die on top, and I don't know what they would be for exept for precision seating. I just thought I would share my fun for the night.

I have one of those case length trimming dies in 8mm Mauser. It took me a while to figure out what it was for and why it had a bunch of scratches on top of it.

I enjoy reloading equipment from the 70's cira. Can you please provide a picture. I have a RCBS Jr. from 1976, Lyman Spar T and I got real lucky and got a never used, perfect conidtion 1975 RCBS Rock Chucker. It also came with a new set of 38/357 mag dies. The sizing die is carbide and the decapping pin is in the expanding die. I have the dies set up to load .357 mag. I have a Dillon to pump out ammo, but I make sure to use the old faithfulls as I enjoy loading the old way as well. I love the classics!

That is why you should never let price interfere with your decision when it comes to buying reloading equipment. Buy whatever you want, because it is going to last you for the rest of your life.
