    Bass Pro Prices

So I've never bought ammo at bass pro and I was in the area of the Manteca store, decided to have a look...
EFFTHAT. Man that stuff is expensive. ie A 500 round box of Win M-22 was 48.99. Same ammo, box of 1,000 at Walmart 43.99. I scanned some more, but the cheapest value I found was Hornady Steelmatch .223. Prices seem to be on par to Big5

      ...

Bass Pro used to be priced the same as Wal Mart and from a completely unreliable source the contract Winchester (White Box as thats the only thing I usually buy to save the brass) had with Walmart expired so maybe it will go up there soon too.

I live in the Bay area and Walmart does not sell any gun stuff not even oil, so where are the Walmarts that sell ammo?

Milpitas does, and I think the guy at the ammo counter there said Palo Alto does.

You can always look up some common ammo on walmart.com and keep flipping stores nearby till you see one that says "in-stock, prices may vary."

My Wal Mart in Modesto does.

I've been to Bass Pro many times; nice place to walk around, huge firearms selection (particularly long guns) but never enough counter help. I walk by the counters and look at the hand guns, notice the prices, no one can help me but after looking through the prices I'm ready to move on anyway. My guess is they cater to a crowd that doesn't really shop around and just likes the ambiance.

Tracy Walmart is always stocked to the gills. You have to leave Alameda county to get it.

Amazing and yes I agree on the prices of everything being high. Cool place to go to look around but I 2wouldn't buy crap from them unless I had too. They did carry a nice selection of 10mm autos though.

I have found ammo at the Mountainview Walmart.
I have found the selection, and supply better at the Gilroy Walmart. I actually found a box of the Winchester M22 there.

Yea, it does get a bit pricey ther for ammo. I do pick up my Turkey shotgun loads and on ocasion .22 or handgun ammo. Wally world is a few bucks cheaper though on the plinker ammo there the next exit east from bass pro in Manteca.

For you bay area folks. J&R in Livermore, Bass Pro in Manteca, or the Tracy or Manteca Walmart are you best/cheapest bets for ammo. FYI Manteca Walmart tends to run low quick on popular rounds, but they started carrying American Eagle 20rd boxes of 55 gr. FMJ for $5.97 ea. Sorry OP for thread jacking but I felt the info was worth the interruption.

eh, aint nuthin' I'm here promoting Tracy Walmart as well. They recently have Rem UMC 100 round value packs for 38.99 I think. A few bucks more than WWB. I think I'll buy a brick of Win M-22 to try it out.
