shoot? or no shoot?

My uncle just gave me a case of .45 ACP surplus ammo. It's from when he was in the Army. Each cardboard box inside says:

50 CARTRIDGES
BALL
CALIBER .45 M1911
LOT RA 5906
REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC.

The ammo has been sealed in the ammo can. I'm guessing it's from around the beginning of the Korean war time, since that's when he was in the Army. I opened up a box, and it looks to be in good shape, just slightly discolored, or "antiqued" if you want to call it that. Anyhow, my question is, is this safe to shoot? Or what should I do with it? Thanks!

If it's been in a sealed ammo can, it should be fine. I wouldn't use it for self defense though.

I shoot 1950s-era ammo out of my Mosin all the time. Shouldn't be an issue, IMO.

It should be good. A guy on my route w/c was a Vietnam Vet gave me 50 rnds of those surplus also and it had some green corrosion on it.No problem....

I would shoot it.
I would also be sure to clean the gun afterwards because old surplus ammo has the possibility of corrosive primers.

On the other hand, it's probably worth something to a collector. If you've got plenty of it, sell it and use the money to buy Blazer Brass .45ACP at Walmart for $11 per 50rds.
