Reloading equipment help

Hi,

I'm a newbie trying to get into reloading and could use some advice. I am primarily going to be reloading rifle rounds initially including 5.56/.223 both plinking and match, .308 both plinking and match, and .300 wm match. *So one of my big decisions is whether to use a progressive press or a single stage and which model. *I originally was going to just do a single stage but my friend suggested that I may want to save a little more and do a progressive press from an output stand point. *So what do you guys think? *

As far as powder dispensers I found a really good deal on the power Hornady one.

I could use suggestions as far as case trimmers and also what are the best tools to measure the OAL from the bullet and to check the brass? *

What other equipment do you suggest that I look at? *Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, in my opinion, if you want match grade ammo, a single stage is the best option because you have the most control of the whole process. If you are looking to load a lot of rounds at one time, then a progressive. They really have their own reasons for each. Perhaps start with the rcbs rock chucker single stage deluxe kit and a digital caliper. This will give you the feel for if you even like reloading with the least expense. Just my 2 cents.

Unless you reload in large quantities, single stage is practical enough. From what I hear, most people prefer single stage for match grade reloads. but if you go slow on a sturdy bench, you can still reload very accurate rounds with a progressive press.

If you want to reload multiple calibers take a look at a turret press. It allows you to load multiple die sets and gives you the control of a single stage.

Ill suggest starting with a single stage just from a learning standpoint, Turret presses in my opinion are no better than a single stage, a progressive will add a whole new dimension of complications when your just starting out.

I always suggest the lee anniversary kit because its probably the best reloading value in the business.

Comes down to budget. For rifle rounds, I would use a single stage.

I saw this in a magazine after I just bought a single stage RCBS kit.

Kinda wish I had seen this first.

A Lee Precision Turret press isn't a bad way to go, you get the capability of the single stage and with the option to auto index through each stage. Single stage is the way to go for precision rifle loads.
