I haven't really thought to elevate it closer to the tool head.

If anything, I need to make a tube for the stupid dead primer slinger since the little bucket doesn't catch very many of them. I have learned that if you put a duct tape wall at the end of the ski-jump, you can get 100 percent of your live primers back in circulation though. I rigged that up after the vacuum cleaner vs. live primers on the floor incident occurred.
OK. Most people who are interested in the bullet tray are interested because they are on a strong mount and the extra 8" of movement is fatiguing. The bullet tray was designed with the SM in mind. (You can just bolt it to your bench directly but sticking the box o' bullets there seems to work for most people)...

If your current situation works wrt bullet tray, then get the roller handle I had 2 550 machines and 2 650 machines set up when I lived in NH. One each 550 and 650 had the roller handle (older black handle version of aluminum grip). One press of each sort for each primer size. My brother would come over to use my presses and would always complain that the one he wanted to use never had a roller handle on it.

ok, thanks, I hadn't picked up on the whole SM thing creating a demand for a bullet try as my tray sitting next to the base seems fine.

Dunno, never tried the roller handle. Regular ole ball handle works pretty well for me. If it's going to be a particularly long session, I just put a leather workglove on my right hand.

Don't have the strong mounts or bullet tray, either. My loading bench is slightly over waist-high as it is, so I can just barely see/reach inside the casefeeder hopper if I need to. If I had the strong mounts, I'd need a ladder. I use an old cereal bowl for a bullet tray...

When I load I usually do well over 1000 rounds and I've found the roller handle to provide some much needed relief to hand fatigue. I have the plastic one and have never tried the metal one.
