That's "most places near you". Most places in other areas of the state don't give a rat's azz. I used to work at an indoor range in Socal that didn't have any problem with steel cored or even AP ammo (up to 50BMG). Then, there are plenty of private clubs and even pulic ranges in the northern 3/4s of the state that don't have steel core restrictions.

BTW, check gunbroker prices before you shoot it. I've seen it sell for $1/round. 50 cents per round is usually considered a good deal. So, it's worth more as trading stock than it is a shooting ammo. The benefits to the steel core aren't really worth much but, morons think it is and will gladly pay you too much for it.

Most types of FFLs are not allowed to sell it to non-FFLs. But if you are not an FFL then it is perfectly legal to sell.
