Best off the shelf 308 ammo?

Just got my .308 upper. Fulton Armory 22 inch Krieger barrel 10:1 twist.

What would be good ammo for my 308? What types of ammo would be good for accurracy? What types would be good for hunting? How heavy of a bullet should I use for that rifle?

    Your help will be appreciated

Good Call there Buddy. A 1:10 twist will allow you to use the heavier bullets and will add additional stablization to your standard 168 grainers. Federal Gold Medal Match is usually the standard. I am also very fond of the IMI Match ammo that comes in the blue and yellow box. Then Lake City Match, if you can find them.
Of course hand loading would be the most accurate. Once you find the magic formula that marries the bullet to the rifle, there is no turning back.

175 gr match from Black Hills. Nice and accurate.

For hunting, take your pick...most any factory SP in the 125gr and up range will do OK.

X2 - that is what I compare my handloads to.

Black Hills red box .308 is lesser priced than Federal Gold Medal Match and has better brass.

My vote is for Federal Gold Medal Match. Works for me and I can reload the brass 8 - 10 times to ~same specs.

FGMM is more expensive, no more accurate, and the brass is of lesser quality than BH. Your experience with Federal brass is not the norm. I don't even get to half the number of reloads you have with out blowing primers. Light loads do save brass, however.
