First time neck sizing about to happen!

I am going to neck size 30-06 brass for the first time. I have Redding dies and was wondering if I have to lube the cases for neck sizing?

just lube every so often. your dies will last longer, and you wont have to worry about stuck brass. just like every 10th round or so.

Some use a powdered mica. It comes with a little tray and brush attachment to clean and spread the mica.

no lube as if you put to much on you will crush the neck in. just make sure the lip does not have a burr on it, if it does chamfer.

are these cases been fired out of your rifle?

I neck sized the cases fired in my rifle. The cases I picked up will be FL sized. Rifle case prep is taking forever....I'll finish up tomorrow .....I'll get some case lube tomorrow as well.

                  Thanks for the help guys.

RCBS told me to fully size to push shoulder back otherwise cases grow on you even if shot only in one chamber. I was asking them specifically about neck only sizing and they dd not recommend it.

Neck size only for bolt guns. Full length size and bump the shoulder back .001" - .002" after every 2 to 3 neck sizing or when you start to feel slight 'wipe' when chambering the round.

3006 cases grow about .005" every time you full length size. You'll need to trim the cases every 2 or 3 full length sizings.

This is the setup for case neck lube.
The Forster Case Graphiter is constructed of tough, impact resistant plastic and the base is drilled to permit permanent mounting to a loading bench. Three brushes are mounted in the base. They will accommodate all calibers from .22 to .35. The Case Graphiter comes with enough white “motor mica” to process 2000-3000 ca

It is the same stuff but the cosmetic version is finer powder usually mixed with additives so not so good for case necks more for old lady necks.
                        It is called Motor Mica.

Be careful using case lubes or homemade lube in the neck you might ruin the powder over time.

I always lube the necks when neck sizing. Perhaps it is not necessary but friction is friction and lube prevents any galling.

I used Lee mandrel type neck sizing dies so no lube is necessary. Loading at the range for load development is real easy with Lee Neck dies and hand press. I used Redding Comp Seating dies for accurate and repeatable seating.

Tonight I received Lee Lube in the mail. I decided to lube the cases I picked up at the range. I used a lube pad and put a light sticky coat on each case. The instructions state that if the lube is allowed to dry there will be no damage to the case neck from the lube. I let it dry. I ran each case through the FL die with no problem.

Question: What is the best way to get the sticky lube off the cases? Do I have to tumble? Is it okay to leave the cases as is for a couple of days before cleaning or tumbling?
