    .45acp question

    Hi all!

So I just started loading .45acp with my buddy. (he loads .308 and 9mm on his press) Anyway, right now, all I'm using is a 1911, so I use pistol powder and consult the books for the specs, etc.

If in the future, if I get a carbine, like an hk usc, will I have to use different powder, or a different amount of powder, since the barrel will be significantly longer?

    Thanks!

Just use the same loads. Use the powders suitable for the cartridge as listed in the reloading manual. The ammo company does not load a special "rifle load" for my 357 magnum lever gun. You should find that the powders that give you good velocity in the handgun will also do so in the rifle.

In most cases a carbine will cycle even if a pistol won't. My 9mm AR loves a batch of 9mm I did that was too light to cycle in my pistol. It definitely beats pulling bullets...

I'd say load the same also like your pistol rounds unless the owners manual for the HK says different. I'm guessing the carbine is designed to eat standard handgun ammo.

The same loads will work, but you could venture into some slower powders if you like. Powders that normally wouldn't have time to completely burn in a short barrel. Sounds like fun to me.
